Our research during 2020: client highlights and endorsements

Despite economic trading conditions we could never have imagined, we have developed some great new client partnerships this year, as well as maintaining strong existing links, and in turn received recognition to be proud of.

At the beginning of the year we worked on a project with Salamander Pumps, once again convening discussion groups with tradespeople to discuss their business challenges and thoughts on the future development of the heating sector. As always, we invited the client team along to observe the sessions – there is nothing quite like hearing it direct. The sessions and outputs were very well received.

Another new client in 2020 is Geberit, a global leader in sanitaryware products. We worked with the UK team on two research projects this year both of which placed the instore experience of the retail customer at their heart.

During the summer, we co-ordinated our own in-depth research, speaking with over 2,000 business owners in the home improvement sector about the impact of COVID-19 on their work. These helped us demonstrate our knowledge of working with installers even further and included high profile presentations to BEIS, the CLC (Construction Leadership Council) and the BMF P&H Forum. The data has also formed the evidence base for a recent carbon monoxide public health campaign.

We have already been asked to participate in the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) conference next year to talk in part about our learnings from this research. Overall we received widespread praise for our work during the COVID-19 pandemic when the construction sector were getting their heads around a new way of working:

Further expanding our reach with clients in the built environment, this year we also worked with Taylor Wimpey on a study that delved into house buyer's views on sustainability and the environment. Speaking with those close to purchasing a home, the study revealed key motivators and insights that are being used to shape future business strategy.

Later in the year we also worked once again with Polypipe, one of our most supportive partners since our launch. We convened qualitative interactive sessions with plumbers to understand their purchase habits, brand preferences and understand how they expected certain product categories to develop in the medium term.

“We have used other market research companies in the past but having used Eureka! for the first time in the middle of 2020 we will not now be using anyone else. The level of quality and expertise was very impressive. A key element to focus groups is keeping the conversation going with full engagement from all members to draw out as much information as possible. I was very impressed in our sessions how Eureka were able to achieve this. Eureka have great experience working with plumbers and this really showed in the sessions and in the pre-planning meetings. Follow up material for each session was very detailed and, in a language, and structure for the target market. Without question I would recommend Eureka who we will be strengthening our partnership with over the coming months and years.”

We have finished the year with a series of new client wins in the home improvement sector and we will be able to share more about this news in the New Year.

We are also very excited to be starting a website refresh which will hopefully allow us to spread our ever-expanding vault of data and knowledge on our key sectors even wider in 2021! Watch this space and let’s stay positive about what 2021 can look like!!
